Who are we?

Jeremy Parr

I am a consultant paediatrician in Newcastle, and

lead the ASD-UK project. I see children and young people with ASD in

clinics, and make diagnoses and help to answer parents’ and local

professionals’ questions about children. I work closely with ASD researchers

from the UK and other countries, and am involved in a number of studies.

These include researching the causes of ASD, the effectiveness of ASD

interventions, and how health services for children with ASD and their families should be provided.

Helen McConachie

I am a Professor of Child Clinical Psychology in

Newcastle, and lead a similar database to ASD-UK in North East England (www.daslne.org).

As well as seeing children and young people with ASD in clinics, I research

the effectiveness of interventions for children with ASD and their families,

and how best to measure children’s progress and outcome.

Denise Brett

I joined ASD-UK in March 2014 as co-coordinator of ASD-UK. I am a psychology graduate and have worked as a research assistant at Newcastle University on a study assessing a parent group intervention to manage repetitive behaviours in ASD. I have also worked as a tutor teaching children and adolescents with ASD.

Richard Hardy

I am a computer officer at Newcastle University. I act in an IT and database support role for the ASD-UK project. I developed the database and the online registration system for ASD-UK.

Jane Tilbrook

I am the administrator for the Development and Disability team at Newcastle University and I am also the Research Applications administrator for ASD-UK.

Sarah Nolan

I am the administrator for ASD-UK at

Newcastle University. I work on 2 other child health research projects, including a large study looking at the transition of young people with complex health needs.
