Steering Committee
The steering committee provide expert guidance and advice to the research team. They also advise on the overall coordination of ASD-UK and communication between the research team, professionals and the autism community.
The steering committee includes health professionals, the ASD-UK research team and 3 parent representatives:
Dr Doug Simkiss (Chair), Dr Jeremy Parr (ASD-UK lead), Prof Helen McConachie (Daslne lead), Deborah Garland (parent, and lead for the National Autistic Society in the North East), Mr Mark Wakenshaw (parent), Ms Louise Relton (parent), Professor Charles Newton (Oxford), Professor Louise Gallagher (Dublin), Dr James Cusack (Autistica)
Research Committee
The role of the research committee is to makes the decisions about which studies to support. Researchers wishing to recruit families for research in to ASD will have to submit an application to the steering committee for review and assessment. Applications are reviewed by a research committee, comprising clinician, research and parent members from across the UK.
